A freelance journalist for over a decade, I have bylines in The Atlantic, WIRED, Parade, SELF, Men's Journal, ELLE, VICE Sports, Health, espnW, Runner's World and more. I am a current member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors. As a freelance writer, I love finding the latest studies and trends in health and medicine and explaining them in a compelling way (all while making them make sense). My clients include Forbes Health, Nike, Studio/B by The Boston Globe, Mattress Firm, LIVESTRONG.com and Under Armour.
I grew up with the dream of being a writer and spent my time at The University of California, San Diego doing everything possible to make that dream a reality. My internships and jobs in almost all facets of the publishing industry—bookseller, library shelving assistant, copy editor, regional editor, writer, literary agency intern and literary publicist—have made me well-versed in the industry and provided a deep firsthand knowledge of what it takes to succeed as a journalist.
I took a college internship at Competitor and turned it into a full-fledged freelance writing career in the span of just a few years, taking advantage of every available moment to research, write and network. Over the years I have developed my interview skills and have had the opportunity to interview high profile, world-class athletes such as Olympian Leo Manzano, American Track and Field Champion Lauren Fleshman and Ironman National Champion Michael Lovato, and public figures including Benjamin Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and Sean Astin.
